Privacy Policy

1. The short version

  • Neither side of a conversation ever learns who the other is. That is the product.
  • Owners never see a scanner's phone number. Scanners never see an owner's name, number, or anything else.
  • Scanner phone numbers are stored as cryptographic hashes, for abuse prevention only.
  • Notification emails never contain message content.
  • We do not sell data, run ads, or use third-party advertising trackers. Subscriptions are the business model.

2. Who we are

SaferPing is operated by Country Roads Technology LLC, a Pennsylvania limited liability company. For anything in this policy: support@saferping.com.

3. What we collect

From tag owners: your email address and a password (stored as a salted hash by our authentication system); your tags, contact sessions, and the messages in them; billing details handled by Stripe, which means we receive your plan, quantity, and buyer email, and never see or store card numbers.

From scanners (people who scan a tag): a phone number, which is verified and then stored as a cryptographic hash used to prevent abuse, and deliberately never shown to tag owners; a browser credential (a cookie that identifies your browser to us, not to the owner); the messages you send; and coarse technical logs.

From site visitors: nothing beyond standard server logs. No advertising trackers, no third-party analytics.

4. What we deliberately do not do

The relay is designed so identity cannot cross it, in either direction:

  • Owners never learn a scanner's phone number or identity.
  • Scanners never learn an owner's name, number, email, or anything about them.
  • Notification emails contain a reason category and a link, never message content.
  • Whether an owner has dismissed or blocked a conversation is never revealed to the other side.
  • We never sell personal information, and we never use it for advertising.

Message content is transmitted over TLS and stored in our database so conversations work and abuse can be investigated. We do not read conversations except when investigating a safety report or as required by law.

5. Retention

Account data is kept while your account is active. Sessions and messages are retained for safety and abuse investigation. You can request deletion of your account and data at any time; records needed to enforce blocks or investigate abuse may be retained where the law allows, because deleting them would let a blocked harasser start fresh.

6. Who processes data for us

A small set of infrastructure providers process data on our behalf, each for one job:

  • Vercel: application hosting
  • Neon: database
  • Stripe: payments
  • Twilio: scanner phone verification
  • Cloudflare: bot protection
  • Upstash: rate limiting
  • Purelymail: email delivery

7. Your rights

You can ask us to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information by emailing support@saferping.com. We honor these requests for everyone, not only where CCPA, GDPR, or similar laws require it. We will verify the request came from you before acting on it.

8. Children

SaferPing is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

9. Changes and contact
